Klug­heit ist vor­wärts­ge­rich­tet und sie schaut vor­aus. Das latei­ni­sche Wort für die Klug­heit, pru­den­tia, ist die Kurz­form von pro­vi­den­tia, der Vor­aus-Schau. Die Klug­heit hat einen wei­ten Blick. Sie ist die Fähig­keit, in Gedan­ken die Zukunft vor­weg­zu­neh­men. Sie sieht im Geist, wel­che Hand­lun­gen zu wel­chem Ergeb­nis füh­ren wer­den und wählt die Hand­lung aus, die zum gewünsch­ten Ziel führt. „Kon­se­quenz­ana­ly­se“ Wer die Kon­se­quen­zen durch­denkt, wer vor­aus­schaut, der kann klug han­deln. Klug­heit ist eine prak­ti­sche Tugend. Es geht bei der Klug­heit nie nur um Theo­rie, son­dern um klu­ges Han­deln. Nur wer klug han­delt, ist ein klu­ger Mensch. Wer dage­gen klu­ge Gedan­ken hat, sie aber nicht umsetzt, ist dumm. [1]
